The Aerides Bath or Bath House of the Winds (Greek: Λουτρό των Αέρηδων) is the only surviving Ottoman-era public Turkish bath surviving in Athens, Greece. [1] Located at Kyrristou 8, near the Tower of the Winds (colloquially known as " Aerides ", "the Winds"), it dates to the early period of Ottoman rule over the city (15th-17th centuries). It continued working as a bath.
The Bath House of the winds is the only public bath of Athens surviving at the present days. It dates from the first period of Turkish rule (1453 - 1669) and stands near the Roman forum and the Tower of the Winds. It functioned as a bathhouse until 1956, and is now the property of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

We almost walked past this little restored bath house (hammam) but were glad we slipped inside for a wander round. It's cool and uncluttered with the original marble fittings and partitions restored.

One of the few remnants of Athens' Ottoman period, this 17th-century hammam (Turkish bath) is also the only intact public bath building in the city - though it unfortunately no longer functions as such.
